Monday we are leaving to walk the Camino in Spain. I promised a couple of people that I would blog the experience. So, here we go… Mark and I, Marc Adami and Theresa Brandon will be walking the English Way. Which is Ferrol, Spain to Santiago, Spain. We will also have our trusty guide and friend John along for this adventure. John has been our guide during many of the larger group tours we have taken.
The Way (Camino) is a pilgrimage, spiritual journey, and one I have read and dreamed about for many years. We will walking for 7 days, averaging about 10 miles a day. Evenings will be spent in the villages along the way. Our housing will be hostels and pensionnaires.
Anyone who knows me, knows that packing light isn’t in my vocabulary. But knowing you will be carrying all that have, on your back, changes that.
My pack weighs 15 pounds. I would like to get it lighter, but there are a few things I’m not living without. The gobi bag, above, is a sectioned compression bag. It is amazing and well worth the money, if you are backpacking. Theresa found a few other cool items I will share throughout the trip. So, on Tuesday I will start this journey and attempt to write as we journey south.
