I reconnected with Colleen Barry via Facebook and have followed her life pictures enviously. She is now in Homeland Security at the Canadian border, and living outside of Bonners Ferry with her partner Donna Bell. When I routed our trip on the two lane highways, I noticed right away we were going through their town. I looked forward to seeing Colleen again and really check out what made their part of the world so desirable. Colleen and Donna showed us an amazing time. First it was fun to talk and catch up with everything. They have lived in the area 20 years, and being surrounded by mountains, water, woods and wildlife, it was easy to see why they have stayed.
Their hospitality and generosity made the visit so comfortable and fun. We can’t thank them enough, and although I loved the four wheeling (my first time) and the amazing beauty surrounding them. It was the catching up, visiting and laughing that was the best. Colleen and Donna know how to spend their down time… Hiking, fishing, hunting and just enjoying the area they live in. Colleen’s photos of wildlife are amazing and if I get a chance later, maybe she will let me share a few on my blog.
…strange, I can’t get this picture larger. Sometimes this can be frustrating…
We will definitely return if they will have us!!
Now we are off to North Cascade National Park, but first a little shopping in the quaint little town!
