It is hot out and I don’t want to go outside. So, in an attempt to delay going out, I am blogging! We just spent a long weekend at Porcupine Mountain State Park in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The state park borders Lake Superior, and although mountains is pushing it, there are some beautiful waterfalls and rushing streams. It is only a 7 hour drive too, right up through Wisconsin. We rented what is called a rustic cabin,
No electricity, bathroom, or running water. Basically four bunks with hard, hard mattress…but look at the view right out front of it!!
Saturday we hiked from the cabin to Lake Superior, all along Little Carp River. It was a 13 mile hike made bearable by relatively flat terrain. When we returned, we just collapsed on our bunks.
It was a wonderful, relaxing adventure. But there were a few times I missed our camper mattress, and although minimal, our conveniences. Washing my hair in ice-cold water isn’t something I want to do very often.
Back to packing, three days before we leave!!
