We are continuing with our retirement plan of traveling every other month.  So, here we are in April, a traveling month.  We are taking a bit of a detour from our truck camping for this month.  Last week we were in LA taking care of our Grandson.  Mark joined me midweek, after spending Easter with his family. Declan is 9 and I was able to spend his one day off at Universal Studios.  I dislike rides (nausea) and patience isn’t my virtue, but I promised him I would go on every ride he desired, and we waited untold hours in lines. We actually had a lot of laughs and as long as I closed my eyes, I didn’t feel too queasy. We did take a tour of Universal’s “back lot”, and saw some of the facades used in movies and TV shows.

The rest of the week Declan was in school, so Mark and I did some more LA exploring.  We hiked in a couple of canyons, biked Venice and Santa Monica beaches.  Also went to Studio City Farmers Market and Fairfax Flea Market.

My nephew Tyler Britt’s long time girlfriend has a showing of her artwork in a gallery in LA.  Luckily it was still on when we were there, and we were able to view her amazing art.  Here is her interview in the LA Times

We returned home Monday, and this Friday we are leaving for the Netherlands and Belgium.  I will be blogging from there, and will write a little more about our upcoming trip before we leave.  Meanwhile, I’ll be packing!
